The bureaucracy of this bill is burdensome. Also, why does it mandate sharing non qualifiers information with the federal government??
That said, we can’t afford to subsidize so many people either. The social implications of this are tearing away the fabric of our society in many ways.
It is a balancing act. We need people to be productive citizens. but we also need to help those that fall on hard times.
Keith, the bureaucracy is the point. Erect so many barriers to qualify to just make people go away.
Many of the folks on these programs are people who are working but don’t earn a living wage nor have any decent benefits.
Let’s subsidize Lilly’s drug center, the Bears, and corporations in general, but scrutinize every penny that goes into social welfare programs. I’ve been a registered republican my whole life, but these guys are killing us. More evidence of the K economy.
I grew up Republican listening to Rush Limbaugh every day as a kid and … after awhile, it became apparent that they have been trying to roll America back 100 years. The party and their policies since Reagan have been designed to erase the middle class and break them back down to the disposable, low-wage workers that most of our ancestors were.

Totally agree with Joe B. How about paying people a living wage so they don’t have to seek out government assistance. The federal and Indiana state minimum wage is $7.25 and has not changed since 2009. The cost of living however, has increased
significantly. How can we expect people to pay rent, buy food, pay the high cost of utilities on approximately $1,000 a month?
