Should this go forward, Indy has greatly enriched its political clout in DC with 4 reps in line with the administration and Congress. Expect a lot more revenue sharing for infrastructure among other things.

I sure haven’t and he’s my representative. And Shreve was someone who a few months earlier was desperately trying to convince us all he wanted to be mayor!
We could have three representatives who would care about nothing but the central Indiana area. Instead we will have four carpetbaggers who won’t care one wit about Indianapolis and will deliver even less than Andre Carson did.

Has anyone taken into consideration how this will come back to haunt these states when the Dems retake control, which will happen as history has proven. This revenge politics is pure garbage and we will be the lossers of the decisions made by our elected “leaders”.
Thomas H, you may well be right! The effort now to re-gerrymander for Republicans will not withstand a “wave” election for the Dems. I argue we must make the effort though. 1) Importing millions of illegals to sway reapportionment in blue states with NO VETTING!

Please provide the ACTUAL real-world evidence supporting your “evidence,” because as far as I can tell, at least five of those six points are complete balderdash, and the remaining one (#3) depends on what exactly you think “socialism” is. Your points are all recycled misinformation, to put it kindly. As for the mid-decade redistricting being “a response to all the blue state gerrymandering,” that does not hold up to scrutiny, either. This current war was started by Trump and Texas, and nonpartisan studies indicate the gerrymandering done in the last cycle benefited Republicans far more than Democrats. Again, you’ve fallen for right-wing misinformation. And what Democrats “justify shooting and killing Republicans”? Please provide actual statements of elected Democrats calling for the deaths of Republicans. We’ll wait while you search and discover that you are recycling right-wing propaganda, not reality. I still think this whole mess won’t get past the state supreme court. I read the articles in the state constitution. It flat out says new maps for “Senators and Representatives” can only be done after a census. If it were taking about “state” Senators and Representatives, then it would have said “State Senators and Representatives”, but it does not. The Federal constitution makes it clear that drawing federal districts is clearly a job for the state, it is very significant that the state constitution does not specifically make any distinction about state or federal “Senators and Representatives”. Now somebody politically motivated pretending to have less than a high school level of reading comprehension may disagree, but I think this is all just bad faith political theater.
The worst part of this, is Texas, the REPUBLICAN STATE that started all of this, has already had their new maps struck down by the courts. And if your argument is Blue states are cheating too and we have to do it, then you have some serious moral problems.
Eldridge Gerry would be proud of Indiana’s new maps. If you can’t win on policy, then win by cheating.
It’s legal. Constitution only says they must do it every 10 years, not that they can only do it every 10 years. Besides, I don’t think counting on the five Republicans on the Indiana Supreme Court is a sound strategy.
Texas only got struck down because the DOJ mucked it up. There is a reason they stopped sending letters out … because in their ineptitude, they were telling states to do the one thing the Supreme Court said not to do, which is gerrymander based on race. And if you don’t think the packed Roberts Court won’t bail them out anyway, you’ve got another thing coming.
The clause in this legislation that short circuits the judicial system to challenge the constitutionality of this legislation is a violation of separation of power in the constitution .
I love Republicans only following the law when it suits them. Otherwise they ignore it. If someone broke into their house and busted the place up, they would punish the people that did that.
But if you break into the Capitol and bust the place up, hurt people that are there to protect the building, you get a pardon.

I am so glad you are able to participate in this discussion. It is my hope that some who have given credence to right wing propaganda will follow Steve D’s advice and check up on your bullet points. (I hope you will too, but am not counting on it.) I am sure they will find that your bullet points have next to no existence in reality, and they may conclude they don’t wish to be so lied to in the future. This is the great thing about debate, it gives rational people such good openings to refute such statements as yours..
