Maybe because the exact same thing happened in the 90’s when Chicago and Illinois weren’t coming through on Bears demand for a new stadium inside Soldiers Field. Just like then, a deal will get done. And Indiana doesn’t need two NFL teams anyway.
Why not? Ohio has two teams and Missouri used to.
Maybe next time the Bengals want a new stadium, they’ll look at Indiana too…after all, Cincinnati’s airport is in a different state.
This is just a bargaining threat for them to get Illinois to cave in.
Once we annex Southern Illinois, we’ll give the Bears $3B for a new stadium to be built in Effingham to spur economic development. Then INDOT will upgrade I-57 to Chicago for the Bears fans.
Effingham would be a good location. Only 100 miles from St. Louis. I prefer that rather than Decatur Illinois which was the original home of the Bears.
We are simply a pawn in the Bears negotiating tactics. I wouldn’t give them much time unless they make some kind of move to prove they are serious. Why be used?
Why do I feel like Indiana is going to get jilted at the altar on this deal?
