Sometimes you have to swing for the fence or you’ll never hit a homerun. I’m proud that Indiana is more nimble than Illinois and that we have bi-partisan support to do something amazing for Indiana for the next 30 years. Even if we don’t get the deal, it’s very energizing to see us working together to go after a once-in-a-generation opportunity.
+1
This isn’t a panacea! Funding these playgrounds rarely (if ever) provides net benefits to taxpayers. What do the folks in Lake and Porter county think of a 1% food and beverage tax increase to support funding the stadium for a billionaire owner?
Agree 100% but apparently our success is 100% dependent upon Illinois’ failing instead of our ability to sell and win the deal.
If da Bears move to a public funded stadium in Indiana, it won’t be 3 years until the Colts want one too. Be careful what you wish for, it might not be what you expect.
The Colts already have a public funded stadium
Yes, the Colts will want more — and should get it. Mark my words, the now have the ammo to go to the legislature to ask for more $$ and stadium improvement. The Indianapolis Colts are INDIANA’S team! Indianapolis is the state capitol, the center of growth and commerce for the state. I wish lawmakers were more amenable to helping Indy acquire another major league franchise, the MLS, and accompanying stadium. Why so reluctant guys? So frustrating.
Amazing that the legislature could all pull together in what, a matter of weeks /months to accomplish this?
Meanwhile things are ” moving too fast” re township trustee elimination/overhaul.
SHHHHHHEESH
Shows the priority. Distract and Confuse but never improve. Bread and Circuses.
Indiana’s legislators claiming a projected budget shortfall , that later proved to be false , cut funding for critical ABA therapy schools for Autistic children in Indiana . Leaving Indiana families scrabbling to find and afford critical services for their Autistic children.
Then those same legislators hyper scrambled in record time to publicly fund a football stadium for the billionaire owners of the Chicago Bears football team and its millionaire players .
Early intervention therapy makes a profound difference for autistic children but the so called family friendly party that controls Indiana didn’t care about that. But they did absolutely have to jump on the slight opportunity to build a football stadium for the Chicago Bears .
I really hope this means we can shut off the Circus Music that’s been blaring nonstop since the start of this nonsense.
