    1. What a ridiculous comment. So the criminal element causing the current chaos will continue that activity and then say “whoa! it’s past curfew, we better go home”

    2. Point well taken Chuck–and you’re right: if the city shows as little regard for curfew as the little thugs-in-training, then it will indeed achieve nothing.

But if we continue this reasoning, how long before we’re sayin’ “Did anyone stop murdering for the sole reason that it is illegal?” At the very least, an enforced curfew will create a disincentive…something that gets more intense when there are serious punishments for repeat violations. Punishment for the juvenile offenders and their negligent parents.

  1. The key will be to hold the parents and guardiens accountable for the actions of their children. Until there is direct adult intervention by those with direct influence over the trouble makers the issue will not be resolved. Accountabiliy by parents, and not the police is needed as no where on the kid’s birth certificate will you find IMPD or the City of Indianapolis listed as the parent.
