I don’t really care for data centers either but how many more days left are there for this empty suit of a mayor that we have? I’d elect a data center robot over him after what he’s done to this great city.

Whatever Tatman. The republican-controlled, super majority legislature and governor created this mess by providing data centers significant tax breaks and the locals are scrambling to rein it in.
A ban is what constituents are calling for. Moratorium makes sense until and unless developers and their backers successfully make the case for economic improvements being worth the side effects, or make a plan to deal with these negative externalities. Basic “consent of the governed” stuff here.
Jesse, is the onus fully on industry to make a plan to deal with the negative externalities? The city-county council is still working with stakeholders to figure out how to better regulate these types of development, right? Is the moratorium meant to give the council more time to work through that or is it more of a delay tactic? I ask in good-faith as someone who supports the moratorium, but thinks strict regulations about where and how these get built is better than an outright ban
