What percent of Purdue alums voted in their trustee elections? I’ll bet it is a very similar number. Zero honesty.
Another power grab and ploy to get political appointees who play to the far right to stick their nose in issues. I can’t imagine this will be a good thing.
The “how” is a much larger issue than the “what”.
Only reason it couldn’t be a bespoke bill that went through the entire legislative process … was that the people/person behind it are too cowardly. They deserve to be recalled.

1.7% of IU alumni participated in past votes to elect trustees. “It wasn’t representative. It enabled a clique of a few people to actually determine three board members”.
And how is 1 person more representative than 1.7% of alumni?
Does Governor Braun prefer a “clique” of one determining the 3 board members? A “clique” of 20,000 seems to be more representative.
Sure looks like another example of Republicans interfering with everyone’s lives while claiming to be “small government.”

And Braun is not even an IU Alum, either. Then note this: “Braun said “I haven’t thought about anything other than … you can’t imagine the number of people that are interested in being a trustee at IU.” Isn’t this a way for him to curry favor among his chosen cronies, as well as getting large campaign contributions from them. Will someone please compute what 1.7% of IU Alumni add up to in number of Alumni votes? Bet it is whole lot more than having 1 man choosing – Braun.
I am an IU Alum, and I vote in the elections. I read the candidate bios and their thoughts about the direction of IU. And I do it for no reward other than for “the Glory of Old IU!” Can Braun say the same?
I’m sorry this is politically motivated, IU has always been more liberal then Purdue and the state house cannot stand it. Much like Trump it’s “my way or the highway” and State Republicans figured out, in a shady way, how to try and force their beliefs upon the University, one of the last bastions of free thinking in this far right state.

Seems to be a theme this year with the representative deciding to close the school system in his district by slipping it into the budget with no discussion or debate. These types of “slip-in” amendments need to be outlawed as this is not democracy in action.
