These data centers are HUGE energy sucks. Can our county handle the power demand? And what will residential customers pay for that increase in demand? And please tell me the county will require these massive buildings to utilize solar for some of the power need. Yes, we know solar isn’t constant, but it can be stored and provide at least some relief to the power grid.
The AWS data center near New Carlisle Indiana will use as much electricity as ALL of Indianapolis does on an average day!!

I hope the city requires the engagement of local experts. I also hope the city understands the amount of energy that will be required and the cost to construct that infrastructure. Meta, not local rate payers, need to pay for the infrastructure upgrades. I encourage all reading this that live in the area to reach out to your local law makers and make it known you do not want to bare the burden as utility rate payers.

Where is the solar power generation and battery energy storage facilities the should be required for this project ?
I’m sure solar energy WOULD have been a part of these plans if the Trump admin hadn’t destroyed all the incentives to build out solar infrastructure in the Big Bloater Bill at the same time they also canceled already funded projects that would have brought an abundance of clean energy into our state

I agree with the query about power. The last data I saw had Indiana importing 15% of its power needs from adjacent states. Water was the original bugaboo with the LEAP district; now it’s power. Given the number of data centers in the pipeline in Indiana, we need a state wide power plan. I did see a large substation being built on IND2 near I65.
Need to start relying on small nuclear reactors.
