You have tools in your bag that you never use. You talk about your conviction record in the press conference. Of course your record looks good. You resolve too many cases with a plea bargain instead of taking the case to court. Like the woman that killed two people when she was driving, claiming to have siezures and not remembering anything. Her doctors told her MULTIPLE TIMES she shouldn’t be driving. Yet she continued to drive having 5-6 accidents, killing two innocent people and you let her off on time served. YOU are part of the problem.
Maybe the State should actually quit taking away the local tools that Indy has to fund the Marion County Court. Kinda hard to get lots of convictions when your Courts are understaffed and jails have limited capacity due to endless State revenue caps and big-gift-tax-breaks that Mike Braun gives to himself and his buddies.
Quite disappointed — but not surprised — that Braun and Beckwith immediately went to the blame game before finding out the facts.
Maybe Chopper Mike isn’t spending enough time on the ground in the Capitol City. But I guess when you get to be the work from home governor in Jasper, that’s just one of the risks.
While we have multiple 2-3 time murderers, carjackers, and shooters out of jail with no bail and on probation, Mears is threatening up to 6 years for Sanchez. Amazing how the politicians Grab for the microphones and press conferences when there are ‘national’ interest in our local crime news, and free publicity is at hand. If they could only act so interested with our normal criminals and acts of violence!
When a hyped up and drunk 38-year old man, corners and violently assaults a 69-year old delivery truck driver for no reason except to be a jack***, a potential 6 year sentence (which I am sure Mr. Fat Cat Sanchez will never get) seems pretty lenient to me.
And, Sanchez is a “normal” criminal–just one that is a bit wealthier than most.
Which 2 to 3-time murderer in Marion County, Indiana is currently out on bail for their murder charge? I did a Google search and found zero results. Granted, there was an individual who committed murder about 10 months *after* he was released using funds from the Bail Project. HOWEVER, that bail could have been paid by anyone (it was $1500 and also partially paid by the family) and the individual did not have a previous history of violence. It’s unconstitutional to hold people indefinitely based on something they *might* do in the future.
In other words, you fabricated BS in order to further your agenda and score more political points. You’re just as bad as the Three Stooges (Braun, Beckwith, and Morales). Unless you want to remove Miranda Rights and the Right to Due Process, there will always be some form of risk.
This Sanchez case is playing out like most similar cases in Marion County.
Potential differences here, if any, are that: 1) Everything was caught on film; 2) Victim and witnesses are cooperative. Those factors may make a difference later on in prosecution. But everything up to now is par for the course.
You really just don’t know what you’re talking about.
So is Mears soft on crime or too tough on crime? Maybe it’s time to admit that because he’s a democrat, you’ll never give him credit anyway.
Pretty funny how you can seem to argue that Mears is soft on crime but then complain that he’s being too hard on someone who physically attacked another person causing serious bodily injury because they’re a celebrity!

Prosecuting Sanchez appropriately because it’s in the spotlight but much harsher than he does our Marion County’s best and brightest habitual offenders.
