Please don’t stand in the way of progress people! Our communities need these centers to capitalize on the provisions needed for AI to be successful in Indiana.
Why would we want AI to be successful in Indiana? What evidence is there that Big Tech making more profits helps, rather than hurts, the rest of us?
Holding development hostage in perpetuity until everyone agrees will be looked upon as the most insane thing we ever allowed
It’s unfortunate this neighborhood group chose to fight this proposal based on the issues of the larger 400-600 acre developments around the area. This little 14 acre date center will actually be a catalyst and a positive influence for the neighborhood desired by the MB residents.
It’s also great to see these neighbors actually unite and organize for their area! There seems to be no abuse or waste of water and electrical services and pollution will not be side effect.
They should keep up their work for projects that may be negative to the area, but this is not one of those.
Agreed! And on the topic of consensus building, if everyone had input on development/projects in the 70’s, 80’s & 90’s nothing would have ever been accomplished…we probably would not have anything near the growth we’ve had downtown and been relegated to Indiana-no-place.
“…no substantive benefit…”? I think $500 million investment could be substantial provided the legislature doesn’t exempt the developer form ALL taxes.
How many permanent jobs will come with this data center – 10 or fewer? If only a handful of jobs along with higher electric bills, property tax abatements which pass along their tax obligations to everyone else, higher water bills, and higher contamination, then I’d be against it too.
So we should let it sit vacant for 40 more years. Wake up. How would your signal phones work or iPhone work to protest without AI. The world worked just fine from wired phones to wireless and from pre internet to internet. We need AI and can’t let Communist China catch up to the USA. Delay this project for what??

Interesting that the city’s spokesperson would say the administration doesn’t involve itself in zoning decision when documents are on the city’s website showing Mayor Hogsett’s staff recommended approving the data center along with 36 diesel generators needed to keep the facility running 99.999% of the time, next door to a grocery store, across the street from a library and dense neighborhoods.
