I am beginning to wonder if this stadium project is a make-good to Trump. We didn’t vote for redistricting, but we will make one of your political opponents look bad.
Only if it is the “Trump Bears” playing in “Trump Stadium” sporting his “preferred colors”. 🙂 This is however, a great example of what can be achieved when the parties work together and not against each other. I do have to wonder if “No Turn On Red” signs will be banned near the stadium.

Make any of these financial numbers on this stadium make sense. We have to refinance the Toll Road yet again to raise money to make it work. Doing this to curry favor makes about as much sense as anything else does.

I feel so sorry for people like Rea. I hope things get better for him.
I think having Halas Hall and the practice facility as part of the project ultimately makes the location less appealing for the Bears. Most fans have a long drive to the games anyway but most management and players live on the north side of Chicago making it a much more difficult commute. At the same time, if they were to choose, the players could buy virtual palaces in northern Indiana for the same price as a large home on the north side of Chicago
Bingo. And that’s why, imho, it is worth the taxpayer investment for the infrastructure – and probably the guarantee for the stadium deal itself, because of the transformational nature of this for the Region. Not only for the direct salaries games etc. but for the support necessary for those staff, etc.
If they are bringing the whole operation to Indiana – this looks to be a slam-dunk good deal for the area, and the state.
You only have to compare what was promised when they unveiled Lucas Oil to what was actually built to know this won’t do much for the Region. The reality is that folks will drive in from home directly to the stadium, and head home immediately afterward. There won’t be a convention center, hotels, office, or housing built in addition to the stadium. Those already exist in a world class manner across the border. This has boondoggle written all over it

Here’s an interesting fact. Da Bears actually were the ones who reached out to Indiana first. Indiana didn’t just come asking Da Bears if they’d like to move to Indiana. Think about that for a minute when reports are that George McCasky is livid at Kevin Warren’s handling of this stadium deal in particularly with Illinois and that McCasky’s desire is to stay in Illinois. I believe George is trying to save face in front of Bears season ticket holders and not look as if he’s abandoning them for a better and more financial deal in Indiana….
