United Way of Central Indiana leaders announced this morning that they will attempt to raise a record $40 million in this year’s campaign.
The target is nearly $1 million more than contributors gave in 2007 to help the 100-plus agencies in United Way’s six-county region.
Early indicators show the campaign is off to a solid start. Corporate giving already has contributed $11 million, or 28 percent, of the goal.
Also this morning, directors kicked off what they call Live United, a movement encouraging the public to give, advocate and volunteer to make changes happen.
