Newly paved roads in Indiana communities might look bare this summer as a nationwide shortage of road paint prevents public
works crews from putting the finishing touches on stripes and other pavement markings. The shortage stems from a low supply
of a paint additive known as methyl methacrylate, which makes road paint brighter, and from increased demand for markings
because of projects funded by the federal economic stimulus program. In some cases, communities are being told it could take
up to 14 weeks to get the paint.
