First Indiana Lego store planned for Castleton Square

Great news for Lego fans of all ages: The privately held Danish company known for its toy construction sets is planning its first Indiana store, at Castleton Square Mall. The roughly 1,200-square-foot shop is scheduled to open in late March or early April, said Julie Stern, a Lego brand relations manager. The stores, which feature play tables and kid-friendly displays, have been known to draw customers from hours away. The store will be the company's 53rd in the United States. Lego, founded by a Danish carpenter in 1932, is now a global brand that has branched out from its trademark interlocking bricks. Its offerings now include robotics kits, video games, four Legoland amusements parks and a business consultancy where managers use Lego bricks to envision potential improvements to their companies. A note for parents: The new Lego store will offer free sets to the first 250 children under 14 on the first Tuesday of every month.
