Woman charged in hit-and-run

Detectives arrested an 18-year-old Greenwood woman Saturday and charged her with a hit-and-run that sent a 6-year-old boy to the hospital. Gavin Rice was riding his bicycle Thursday about 5:30 p.m. when he was hit in a New Whiteland neighborhood off Country Gate Drive. Rice was in the hospital until Sunday after he suffered a compound fracture to his right leg and other injuries. Chassi Cole, 18, was charged with one count of leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury, which is a class D felony.
