Area home builders saw a slight slip in buyers in November, according to the latest permit numbers from the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis.

Builders filed 382 single-family construction permits in the nine-county metropolitan area in November, BAGI said Friday morning. That's down from 386 filings in November 2014.

The 1 percent decrease in permit filings ended a three-month streak of increases on a year-over-year basis.

December will be the key month in determining whether 2015 turns out to be an overall year of growth for area builders. Year-to-date permit filings are now at 4,760 through November—an increase of only one permit over the first 11months of 2014.

Monthly filings were down 18 percent in Marion County, from 74 in November 2014 to 61 in November 2015. Filings are still up 7 percent in the county for the year, to 814.

November filings rose 13 percent in housing hotbed Hamilton County—its seventh straight month of year-over-year growth—from 136 to 153. Hamilton County filings are up 3 percent so far this year, to 1,757, representing 37 percent of the market total.

Permit filings dipped by one in Johnson County, from 58 to 57, and were down 31 percent in Hendricks County, from 59 to 41.

Boone County saw a 20-percent jump in permits, from 25 to 30. Filings rose 44 percent in Hancock County, from 16 to 23.

Fewer than 10 permits each were filed in Shelby, Madison and Morgan counties in November.
