Ingram Micro, a global wholesaler of IT products and business services to businesses, announced plans Thursday to spend $40 million on a logistics center in Indiana, creating up to 550 jobs.

The Irvine, California-based company said it will lease, renovate and equip a 590,000-square-foot facility in the River Ridge Commerce Center in Jeffersonville.

The facility, which is under renovation, will serve as a third-party distribution center for Ingram Micro and include offices and a high-tech warehouse management and control system.

The company said it expects to launch operations by early 2018, with plans to be fully operational in the summer.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Ingram Micro up to $2.9 million in conditional tax credits and up to $150,000 in training grants based on the job-creation plans. The incentives hinge on the company’s ability to meet hiring goals.

Duke Energy has approved additional incentives to offset a portion of the company’s energy costs.

Ingram Micro employs nearly 2,000 full-time and seasonal associates at its four other Indiana facilities in Indianapolis and Plainfield.

The $42 billion company, founded in 1979, has 30,000 employees around the world. Its operations include 154 logistics centers and 23 service centers in more than 50 countries.
