As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowMarian University has received an anonymous $5 million gift to support student scholarships, the Indianapolis-based school announced Wednesday.
It’s the second multimillion-dollar gift the Catholic university has received in recent months. In June, Marian received $6 million, also from an anonymous donor.
The most recent gift will be used as a matching fund to create endowed scholarships. Endowed scholarships usually require a minimum donation of $50,000, but the match will allow donors to set them up for $25,000, payable over five years.
Marian is encouraging scholarship donors to support students interested in ministry, chemistry, mathematics, education, and health care.
“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of this man, who received his education from a Catholic university and understands firsthand the distinctive nature of what we do here,” Marian University president Daniel J. Elsener said in announcing the gift.
