The headline of this article illustrates the IBJ’s anti-Trump bias perfectly. A surging stock market not only helps the wealthiest 1%; it benefits everyone who participates in a 401K or similar pension plan. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimate that in 2025 56% of all employees participate in a 401K or similar plan and that participation rates are increasing. Millions of working Americans are benefitting from the surging stock market. In addition to working Americans, many retired American’s depend on the stock market to maintain their quality of life and standard of living during retirement.
What’s most disturbing about this headline in that it seeks to stir up class envy and animus where there shouldn’t be any.
A surging stock market only benefits those able to cash out their 401k’s without penalty. For everyone else, it limits their buying power.
Also, I think you’re commenting on the wrong article. Well chalk it up to a “senior moment.” 😉
