No, it’s actually a smart move to keep the low life and riffraff out of this new and exciting revitalized district. Congrats to Herb and Phil and the entire family business, for continuing to bring downtown back to its potential as both a safe and highly functioning area.

Country music themed concerts and venues are safe as well as popular.

Hopefully this will contribute to this section of downtown becoming an entertainment district.
The city should team up with the Simons, entertainment specialist, and Lilly Endowment to treat this as an economic development strategy.
A solid entertainment district close to the hotels & the convention center is needed.
An entertainment district could be huge. IU and Purdue Indianapolis students, local residents,
and the out of town folks could all come together for a great time.
Again, a solid entertainment district downtown within walking distance of the hotels and the convention center should be treated as an economic development tool.
This was a very popular entertainment district in the late 80’s and early 90s. Then people forgot how to behave in public, and guns started to be around. And it became a place few wanted to play, so they took their fun elsewhere.
You want to have a nice entertainment district? Lots of police patrolling the streets; no tolerance for handguns on the premises. Because too many people, including C&W fans, just don’t know how to have fun in public any longer.
I give the C&W bars about 3 years, maybe 5 years. Then they will close. HIgh end C&W will just be for visitors; locals will find low-end bars in which to party. Visitors, even in Indy, won’t be enough to cover the fixed costs.

I remember also that downtown Indy had a great entertainment district in the 80’s and 90’s . In fact I don’t even remember people going to Nashville back then.
However, I was in downtown Nashville
two years ago. Incredible numbers of people. The sidewalks and the establishments were packed. Everyone having a great time. What you didn’t see was a strong police presence. ** You see far more police in downtown Indianapolis (with far fewer people ) than in downtown Nashville, **
Keith: I also have been in Nashville within the past two years. Crowded streets, crowded bars. And, my attorney hosts told me, a significant force of plainclothed police in the crowd. If you’re behaved, you don’t know about them. If you start to act up, they find you very quickly, and you are removed from the scene quickly and as quietly as possible. They aren’t going to put up with conduct that jeopardizes the impression you took away.
And in Tennessee, the police can stop you for carrying a gun,, to determine if you intended to “go armed” in the public space. Indiana no longer allows an officer to stop a person with a gun. Might make a big difference
