  1. “Ignoring price”? I don’t know about others, however the cost plays into the events I chose to attend and support. If fans cannot afford to support the team, then it will lose money and the taxpayers will be stuck with an empty stadium.

  2. What were the results of the previous survey? We already know thousands of Hoosiers are interested in professional soccer thanks to Indy Eleven and the thousands involved in youth soccer programs across the state. The public deserves to know more. Release the results you already have and be prepared to release the results of this survey asap.

  3. The Heliport location is a lousy place to insert a soccer stadium . It should be put on the west side where Indiana and Purdue Universities can also utilize it .

    1. You might want to take a look at all the building (and plans to build) on the former IUPUI campus. It’s extensive. Regardless, the proposed location is near the Fieldhouse parking garage, the transit center, Georgia Street and new Simon property development. It’s a good spot and most cities would kill for a stadium withing walking distance of these amenities. IU Indy and PU (which doesn’t have a soccer team and PU Indy doesn’t even field sports teams yet and is touted as an extension of West Lafayette campus) already have Carroll Stadium on campus. If the universities do in fact have a need to use the stadium for games, then bus them across the Mile Square.

  4. Maybe The CIB could float a presale deposit on Ticket sales to gauge the actual interest in MLS in Indy. GM, Starlink and many others have used this method in the past to see who really is serious and who is dreaming.

  5. Within a few years, the CIB will be faced with a minimum $500,000,000 improvement to Lucas Oil and its surroundings. That is far more important than spending money on a niche sport that may or may not succeed.

  6. Gov. Mike Braun is willing to throw $3.5B on a Bears stadium. 1/7 ($500M) of that could go towards the MLS stadium while the investors cover the remaining costs.

    1. The State’s interest in the Bears, while legitimate for economic reasons, is also important to Braun for political reasons. The Region has been a blue leaning area of the State for many years. An economic boom for this area resulting from red politicians could move the needle enough to turn the area red (or purple, at least).

  7. Both surveys appear esoteric in participation and probably in results. Without a broad and full survey city wide, the results will be just as designed. Maybe use the registered voter lists to get larger participation and opinion. We all have to pay for the dang stadium, so let all of us make comment, not just the select few.
