I noticed the ‘IN Indiana” logo yesterday on the welcome sign coming into the state on I-74. To me the “IN Indiana” logo is meaningless. What am I missing?
Slogan-crafting can be a tricky thing. Getting the right words and getting the words right is a real talent. Whoever came up with the Pence era slogan “A State That Works” missed the mark.
What state wants to be one of many where businesses can succeed? “The State That Works” would have been better, staking a claim that of all states, Indiana is the only one where businesses can thrive.
Humility be damned. Indiana faces tough competition in the race to attract and keep business. Getting the slogan right is not trifle.
It was even worse, during the Colts season last year: the sign facing the Big Lucas Oil Stadium Window had letters that didn’t work. So the sign contradicted its own message.
Do we even need a slogan sign on the State Office Building? Doesn’t our downtown speak for itself.
Reserve slogans for advertising and highway markers.
what a waste of money for signs that a few people even notice. The money could’ve been spent much better elsewhere.
