instead of the “greatest country in the world” allowing parents to stay at home with a newborn for 12 weeks – we are calling it helpful to say just bring them to the office? What dystopian insanity is this?
I believe this is the “solution” for after paid leave for the issue that quality childcare is way too expensive for many to afford, and the waiting lists can be insane.
It was good of Braun to extend paid leave for mothers, and as much as I hammer Republicans for being too cheap to actually be pro-life, extending the time off for moms was an example of them actually spending money.
But this? This kind of negates the earlier credit that Braun may have received. I mean, good luck being productive with an infant in the office.
No one wants you to bring your baby to the office. Let families stay home and bond. That’s not something you need to share with your coworkers. Another idiot “pro family” idea by Braun
This is sad. No reason America should have less social safety nets and a lower standard of living than any other country on earth. Imagine the country we could have if we spent money on propping people up instead of fear and making things harder.
This is what we have gotten from decades of Republican political dominance and their destructive policies that funnel trillions of dollars from regular people to the top 0.5%. We went from a situation where a high percentage of families survived comfortably on a single income, to a situation where at least two incomes were required for most families to subsist. That, of course, necessitated child care, and now child care has gotten too expensive and elusive to be workable. So now… just bring your babies to work! But by all means, keep having those babies!

LOL screw paid maternity/paternity leave. As soon as you and your spouse are discharged get your butt back to work! No wonder younger adults are no longer having kids.
