The current owners horribly mismanaged the place, in my opinion. They couldn’t decide who they wanted to be. There were some decent items on the menu when they first reopened, but they frequently changed the menu (and eventually opened the Pizza King). They have the setup to be a great sports bar, but programming the TVs to the evening’s best matchups seemed to be an afterthought. Last fall, I went in for Week 1 of the NFL and was told they didn’t subscribe to Sunday Ticket–they were only going to have the Colts game! When they started hosting live music (that sounded like karaoke) and trivia nights, I stopped going. If someone who knows how to run a sports bar takes over, I think they could be successful at this location.
Agreed – I live in Meridian Kessler and I tried to give this place a chance and there were avoidable missteps on every level. Pizza King is a rarity in Indianapolis proper but each time I ordered it was poorly prepared – perhaps Arnies or a more successful Pizza King franchise could relaunch. It’s a great space with built in parking, someone with a better idea can transform this corner soon enough.

Used to be a great sports bar. Could and should be again.
The Bulldog should come back to life and I’m hopeful the owners make it great again. It will be electric there some day I’m sure.

Hope the original domed building is not destroyed. It was designed as a dry cleaners (Center Cleaners) in 1928 by the prominent Indianapolis architect Edward D. Pierre, who also designed the Indiana State Library and Bush Stadium, among many other Indiana houses and buildings.
