  1. Good bill but only if it includes all federal positions like President, VP, Cabinet members, Justices, etc. they conveniently leave out crooked Trump.

  2. Young is trying to get a lot of mileage out of this as if he’s the first one with the idea. Sort of easy to propose this when you know it’s never going to pass. Similar to Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski voting against Blanche when they knew he had the votes needed to be approved as AG. The biggest issue to move the needle would be term limits. But they will never vote to stop their own gravy train.

    1. We already have term limits. They’re called elections. Ask a room of 100 people who favors term limits and you would see 95 hands, but the incumbents almost always win, because the US voter is full of crap. The OTHER candidate is always the problem. Don’t want to put in someone across the aisle? Cool. There are these things called Primary’s

    2. What Chuck said. But, the options in our current primary elections are always mediocre at best and ensure will have people who don’t represent citizens. The fix is open primaries.

    3. Chuck – this is an old argument that defies some facts: Voters disapprove of congresspeople at 80%-85%, yet only 69% are registered, and only about half of those turn out to vote, for a lowly 35% voter participation rate. You probably think that’s laziness. Or it could be explained they figured out the game is rigged. 90%-95% of incumbents win re-election. Main reason is lack of financial support for challengers. We could try changing the laws on funding campaigns or impose term limits – neither initiative has a chance when the people that need to make those changes are the ones that would lose by doing so.

    4. Randy- term limits is also an old argument. Yes, no politician will ever vote to reduce their gravy train, but they are enabled by single cell organisms called the US voter. And yes, laziness IS the problem. Republicans wail that Hogsett is an idiot, but he could have easily been fired in the last cycle with an additional 40,000 votes. Money?— same issue, the voter is too lazy to learn a thing about a candidate and goes with name recognition generated by money.
The voter is too lazy for even the most basic function. Everyone claims they hate politicians, and even if you don’t know anything about a challenger, it should be pretty easy to say Carson and Young are stale and it’s time for a change, but back to my original point, the problem is always the OTHER side’s candidate

  3. And sadly, this doesn’t even begin to address all their other perks than average citizens don’t enjoy.
Health insurance for life and pensions that never seem to be under attack!
All it takes is four years at the public trough and they are set for life.

    1. Ask Greg Pence.

Todd Young is cooked, Banks is coming after him next for being insufficiently loyal. Besides, Young has spent the last 4 years hiding under his desk thinking this whole Trump fiasco will just blow over and he can come out of hiding and pretend like he never quietly enabled all this nonsense.
