Well, maybe AES and NIPSCO shouldn’t have been so greedy and should have used money to actually upgrade infrastructure rather than stock buybacks and massive executive bonuses. This is their own fault.
Yep! And it sounds like the ‘analysts’ actually work for the utilities.
Also, the Edison Electric Institute is hilarious. Profits are a key to better service? Profits are literally unspent money after all overhead and taxes have been accounted for. Profits can’t be the key to better service, because profits, by definition, do not go to that infrastructure.
How stupid do they think we are?
AES bought IP&L to use as a cash cow they can continuously milk for cash flow to the so called parent company .
I used to work for IPL/AES and when they bought Dayton Power and Light, I think AES got a big shock because the regulatory environment in Ohio was very different than Indiana. At the time, IPL was considered the “cash cow” of the AES portfolio because the consistent cash flow. Dayton not so much. When I was working at there. IPL sent close to $1 million a DAY to AES corporate headquarters.
SO, having an analyst tell utilities that the cash cow might slow down on the milk is not be a bad thing for the rate payers of Indiana!
No other industry operates in the same manner as electric utilities who get to charge customers for ALL risk taking where other industries it is the shareholders and companies who are taking on the risk
