  1. Westfield Master Plan:
    1. finish IN 32 construction
    2. finish IN 32 construction
    3. you get the idea….
    4. find a way to expand Grant Park to the edge of downtown, so folks will come to downtown…

They want a downtown geared towards “local folks” though most of the economic activity in Westfield comes from out of towners…the visitors to Grant Park. Without Grant Park, points 1-3 above are inconsequential. Because no one would be in downtown Westfield They’re all over on the west side of US 31, at the restaurants and stores servicing Grant Park…

I love the part about trying to keep the visitors to Grant Park out of downtown…that seems a sure bet to killl downtown Westfield, if one is ever built. Its those visitors who will bring dollars to downtown Westfield…

    1. You forgot the part about Westfield having a population of 60,000+ and being the fastest growing city in the state. Residents of Westfield go downtown to dine, shop, walk around the park with their kids, visit the farmers market etc. Hence the need to have more dining and shopping options and density of population in the downtown to continue having the nice local options for residents of Westfield to stay in Westfield. You may not understand “downtown” and “Grand Park” (not Grant) are two separate areas. But surely you understand the 32 construction is a state project not city.

  2. Sorry about the Grant vs. Grand. typo at my end.

I understand about 32. It’s the state, the same state that has torn up 32 near Noblesville to put in another roundabout at Hague Road. But the city needs to push the state to finish.

As for the balance about 60,000 residents, I suspect (based on knowing folks in the growing Westfield) most of those residents don’t think about a “downtown” Westfield. They think about Carmel. Because if you live between 146th and 170th or so, in one of the many new neighborhoods, driving another few miles north isn’t in your plans.
