6 thoughts on “White House overhaul of troubled air traffic control system will cost ‘lots of billions’

  1. Doge fired personnel experienced in maintaining the old radars and radio systems in the air traffic control system claiming they were unneeded overhead costs. No one should be surprised that failures followed what DOGE has done to the FAA.

    1. I’ve heard that the overhaul will put billions in the pocket of Musk because the new system is going to use his Starlink Satellite system for communications.

So if you want an explanation of why it’s going to cost so much you can start right there.

    2. This problem has nothing to do with DOGE or the current administration. It has been growing since the late 1970’s and has gone exponential over the last 40 years. All this antiquity of our air traffic control systems has been pushed back and never fully funded or even made a priority by both political parties, all the congresses, and the last 7 presidents.
It is time to move forward and begin the fix and replacement. Saying by 2028 or $12B is not the way to get it done. We all know it will be longer than 3 years and will certainly cost up to $100B before the complete update.

    3. the FAA signed a contract with a major carrier to upgrade the communications systems. DOGE decided Starlink (Musk) systems were better (made more money for Musk) and is going to scrap the original contract, so yes, it has everything to do with DOGE!

    4. Dan do you know who the other systems were that they evaluated? are you able to determine that starlink was not better than the other systems? I believe it was starlink and musk company that was able to get the astronauts back that were stranded due to Boeing failure?

  2. I couldn’t wait to get on here and read the comments about people bashing Trump and his appointees for trying to upgrade the air traffic control system now.

you guys are so predictable about finding fault in every single thing that he tries to do.
