New Labor Day weekend fest set for Broad Ripple

Rib America is no longer on the summer festival lineup (see post here), but that doesn’t mean your Labor Day weekend has to be music-free. A new three-day festival in Broad Ripple Park will be picking up the slack.

The White River Arts & Music Fest, or WARMfest (technically, of course, that would be WRAMfest—which I actually think sounds better), represents a collaboration between Indy Parks & Recreation, Indie Arts & Vintage Marketplace, and Broad Ripple Music Fest.

Headliners for the first outing will include Michael Franti & Spearhead, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, and Mayer Hawthorne. The undercard features G. Love & Special Sauce, JJ Grey & Mofro, Delta Spirit, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Red Wanting Blue, and more to be announced to fill out the fest’s five stages.

Beyond music, the fest has an agenda: Help preserve White River and promote environmental responsibility. A percentage of ticket sales (advance tickets are $60 for the entire fest, Aug. 31-Sept. 2) will go to the Carl G. Fisher Society, a not-for-profit founded by festival founder and Executive Director Dan Ripley. You can find more specifics here
