Stuck for ideas for what to do this week? Here's a starter list with links to ticket information.

“Red”

No, it has nothing to do with communists or aged action heroes. Set in the studio of painter Mark Rothko, this “Red” looks intensely at the creative process and what is or isn’t worth compromising for. John Logan’s Tony-winning Best Play stars Henry Woronicz (IRT’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “King Lear” and “An Iliad”) and Zach Kenney (IRT’s “Who Am I This Time?”) Oct. 14-Nov. 9 Indiana Repertory Theatre   Details here.

Savion Glover

From his theatrical work in “Bring in ’Da Noise, Bring in ’Da Funk,” through appearances on “Sesame Street” and headline spots in concert halls, Savion Glover has continued to further the art of tap dancing, paying homage to those who came before him while blazing a trail all his own. Watch him in action here. Oct 10 Madame Walker Theatre Center Details here.

Hitchcock Festival II

They don’t make them like this anymore. I’m not talking about the Alfred Hitchcock-directed films that make up this festival. I’m talking about the Historical Artcraft Theatre, which regularly schedules classic films and offers them up on the big screen of a theater that hasn’t been divided into a twin or multiplex. And don’t get me started about the fresh popcorn. For this fest, six thrillers make the, er, cut: “Psycho,” “The 39 Steps,” “Rear Window,” “Rebecca,” “Rope” and “The Lady Vanishes.” Oct. 10-11 Artcraft Theatre, Franklin Detais here.

“Danny and the Deep Blue Sea”

NoExit Performance offers a two-night-only, dinner-included performance of John Patrick Shanley’s play about a volatile truck driver and a distrustful woman who meet in a bar. If the venue isn’t familiar, that’s because this is a site-specific creation being staged in the penthouse of the Piccadilly Building at 16th and Penn. Oct. 9-10 Piccadilly Playhouse  Details here.
