Emptying the notebook on recent arts developments.

—Look for the Indianapolis Museum of Art to be strongly pushing—and more heavily branding—its ARTx series of programs in the 2015-16 season. Basically, that’s the programming, distinct but sometimes related to the exhibitions, including the IMA’s popular movie series. The upcoming schedule, announced Aug. 19, includes B-Movie Bingo (an audience participation game played during screenings of bad films), a cat video festival, immersive listening experiences as part of an autumn equinox “Soundscapes” program, contemporary music concerts, a trivia night, a summer bike parade and festival, and the return of some programs tested last season including the Monster Drawing Rally, Art Swap and the post-Thanksgiving “Silent Night.” There will also be a rewards program for frequent participants. More ARTx info here.

—The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has named Vince Lee as its new associate conductor. Look for him at the podium during many of the family concerts, Symphony on the Prairie performances, and more. A booster of contemporary music and formerly with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the AZLO Orchestra, he’ll make his ISO debut Oct. 25.

—An Indiana State Historical Marker has been added at Herron High School recognizing it as the location of “T.C. Steele Studio and Herron.” A public dedication ceremony was held Aug. 21.  Find full text for the marker here.

—A petition is circulating to convince the Indianapolis Board of Parks and Recreation to change the 61st & Broadway Park to Dan Wakefield Park in honor of the Indianapolis writer of “Going All the Way.” Details here.

—Win tickets to visit the Children’s Museum and its upcoming “Sacred Journeys” exhibition, find IndyFringe reviews, and check out this week's IBJ A&E Priority List here.
