Looking ahead to 2016-17 with Dance Kaleidoscope, IRT, IMA and more

It's that time of year when many arts companies announce their seasons. Here's what some have planned for 2016/17.

Dance Kaleidoscope premieres “Divas” (including work choreographed by DK dancers), “Moving Sculptures” (reviving Brock Clawson’s “Lake Effect Snow” and David Hochoy’s “Pictures at an Exhibition”), “DK & Friends” (welcoming Virginia’s Todd Rosenlieb Dance Company), and “Dance is a Contact Sport” (including a world premiere piece).

Indiana Repertory Theatre opens its season with “The Three Musketeers,” celebrates the bicentennial of the state with “Finding Home: Indiana at 200,” and showcases Playwright-in-residence James Still’s thriller “Miranda.” Stalwarts “Dial ‘M’ for Murder,” “Boeing, Boeing,” and “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” are also in the lineup.

IU Opera balances the familiar (“Madame Butterfly”) with the lesser-known (“Florencia en el Amazonas”) and the overtly commercial (“The Music Man”) while IU Ballet supplements its annual “Nutcracker” with Twyla Tharp’s “As Time Goes By” and Jean Coralli/Jules Perrot’s “The Steadfast Tin Soldier”).

The Indianapolis Museum of Art’s Summer Nights film series mixes things up with an “Adventures in Babysitting”/”Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” double bill, the “Evil Dead” sequel “Army of Darkness,” a “Dirty Dancing”/”Roadhouse” pairing and more.
