“A Raisin in the Sun”

Lorraine Hansberry’s 1959 play—about an African-American family considering a move into a white neighborhood—still packs a punch. The IRT revisits the show it last staged in 1994. John Mulaney

One of the funniest comics working today, the Comedy Central mainstay and star—as the character George St. Geegland—of the stage show “Oh, Hello” on Broadway makes the rounds again on the stand-up stage. Fans will probably have a tuna sandwich before the show. Jan. 14 Murat Theatre Details

Herron Gallery openings

Lori Waxman, a contemporary art writer for the Chicago Tribune and author of “Girls! Girls! Girls! In Contemporary Art,” kicks off an evening of gallery openings at IUPUI. Michael Zansky’s “Deep in The Shallows” pairs epic carved plywood paintings with burnt drawings on paper while Joell Baxter’s site-responsive “Floating Points” features suspended screen print panels. Meanwhile, Ronald Hall’s paintings and video works examine the contemporary African-American experience. Jan. 10-Feb. 24 The Galleries at Herron School of Art and Design  Details

The Phoenix Theatre presents Ken Weitzman’s “Halftime with Don,” about an NFL player with a traumatic brain injury, Jan. 12-Feb. 4.

“Eglamore and Cristobel: A Medieval Love Story” is shared by Dolores Hydock via Storytelling Arts of Indiana Jan. 13 at the Indiana History Center. Also on the storytelling front the same evening, Afriye We-kandodis offers “Telling Our Stories To Be Free” at the Tube Factory.

Footlite Musicals offers the local premiere of “Brooklyn,” Jan 12-28 at Hedback Theatre.

Chris Young, the country singer whose career was given a boost by TV’s “Nashville Star” competition, plays Bankers Life Fieldhouse Jan. 11. Singer-songwriter Easton Corbin comes to the Palladium Jan. 12.
