Zionsville poker player wins big at World Series

July 15, 2014

Forgive me if I’m a bit bleary-eyed today. I was up late watching live updates from the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas—and tracking the incredible success of Zionsville software developer Chris Greaves, who outlasted more than 6,670 players to finish 12th.

Greaves played in the $10,000-buy-in poker tournament for seven days, earning $565,000 and the experience of a lifetime (at least for poker nerds like me).

PokerNews.com caught up with Greaves—known as “BassMaster” in the Indy-area cash games he plays—when he was still accumulating chips. Find an audio interview here and a profile here.

The final nine players will reconvene in November to vie for a coveted WSOP bracelet and the $10 million top prize.

I don’t know Greaves, but I’m proud of the way he represented himself and the local poker community. It was a good run.
