More restaurants are expected to open in the retail development near Interstate 69 and Southeastern Parkway in Fishers.

Midland Atlantic Properties Inc. is proposing to build a 7,340-square-foot structure within Deer Creek Shoppes at 13910 Olivia Way. It would include an Arby’s with a drive-thru, Classic Cleaners, Which Wich and two other retail tenants to be determined.

The restaurants would be in good company—the street sits west of St. Vincent Fishers Hospital and is already home to Starbucks, Subway, Taco Bell, Wendy’s and Dairy Queen.

Less than a year ago, Atlanta-based Arby’s Restaurant Group Inc., which operates or franchises 3,400 restaurants worldwide, started opening end-cap locations with drive-thrus as part of a plan to remodel some locations and expand design styles. There are three Arby’s in Fishers right now.

Adam Zaklikowski, planner in the community development department, said staff was pleased with the building and how the Arby’s blended with the rest of the building.

Deer Creek Shoppes would be the second Fishers location for Which Wich. The other is at 13180 Market Square Drive. There’s also a location in Carmel.

The project still requires city approval and could go before the technical advisory committee this month.

In other retail news:

—Remodeling of the former Borders bookstore in Carmel at 116th Street and Keystone Parkway should start this month as it is transformed into a church.

Mercy Road Church purchased the 23,250-square-foot building earlier this year for $2 million. Borders Group Inc. closed 400 bookstores in 2011 after filing for bankruptcy, and the Carmel store was among the first to go.

Lead Pastor Josh Husmann said he hopes to have the church open by August with a worship center, classrooms, cafe and auditorium. The church has about 600 members and leases space at 100505 N. College Ave. The new building is about four times larger, and Husmann said membership could grow to at least 1,500.

—Jersey Mike’s Subs is opening another location at 16771 Clover Road in Noblesville. It is expected to open in August. The company has 10 locations in the state, including one at 2271 Pointe Parkway in Carmel.

—Geist Landing of Fishers retail center will soon have two new tenants. Orangetheory Fitness will occupy 3,330 square feet and Kid Fit Inc. will move into 2,070 square feet in the building at 116th Street and Olio Road.
