Her promotion is effective immediately.

Baumgartner previously was assistant director in the city’s economic development office and also worked for the Indiana Economic Development Corp. She succeeds Brandon Dickinson, who left Fishers in October to become director of business development for Hobart-based Luke Brands.

“Megan has represented Fishers well during her time here and has proven to lead our city in the right direction as we strive to be a place where business thrives,” Fadness said in written comments. “With this team in place, Fishers will continue to dedicate its efforts toward providing service and partnership to entrepreneurs, innovative firms, and small business.”

Baumgartner was hired by the city in 2015 and since then has led the city’s business-retention, expansion and attraction-project efforts while serving as the main point of contact between Fishers businesses and the city.

The city said she has been part of the team responsible for attracting 25 new companies to Fishers since 2015 that have resulted in $500 million in capital investment and 4,900 new high-wage jobs. Baumgartner also led Fishers' effort to become a Duke Energy Site Readiness Program city in 2018.

Baumgartner holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish from Purdue University.
