New restaurant to open on Monon in Westfield

Clancy’s Inc., the owner of two Noblesville restaurants, plans to open a new restaurant in Westfield this summer. Grindstone on the Monon is scheduled to open in August at 17470 Wheeler Road, along the Monon Trail.

The company is currently constructing a 5,600 square-foot building next to the Hampton Inn on Wheeler Road near the U.S. 31 and State Road 32 interchange.

The interior of the building will seat 230 and an outdoor patio with a large fireplace will seat an additional 50.

Noblesville-based Clancy's got its start in 1965 when it opened the first Clancy’s Hamburgers in Noblesville. A year later, it opened its second location in Sidney, Ohio, before expanding to 27 restaurants in four states.

Today, only the Sidney Clancy’s remains open, but the company operates six other restaurants in Indiana, including Grindstone Public House, which opened in downtown Noblesville last year.

Originally, the new Westfield restaurant was expected to be a Grindstone Charley’s.

“After internal research of the market, we wanted to bring a menu with a little more flair to Westfield, while still paying homage to the 'Grindstone' name that Hamilton County is so familiar with,” President and CEO Perry Fogelsong said in a written statement.

The menu, which is being planned by Grindstone Public House’s executive chef, Aaron Gregori, will feature food from farms around Indiana, including Miller Amish Poultry, Gunthrop Farms, Tyner Pond Farms, Maple Leaf Farms and Viking Lamb.
