Former Indiana Democratic Party chairwoman Ann DeLaney is vying to unseat an incumbent member of the Indiana University trustees during alumni voting next month.

DeLaney is running against trustee MaryEllen Kiley Bishop, who is wrapping up her first three-year term. Degree-holders from all IU campuses are eligible to vote for the trustee post from June 1-29.

Bishop and DeLaney are both Indianapolis attorneys. Bishop has been active in numerous IU organizations, including serving as chairwoman of the IU Alumni Association.

DeLaney is past president of the Maurer School of Law board of visitors and a member of the Academy of Law Alumni Fellows. She headed the Indiana Democratic Party from 1993 to 1995.

IU graduates elect three of the nine trustees, while the governor appoints the remaining six.
