The iPhone didn’t exist during the last International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, but organizers of the quadrennial
competition will take advantage of the new technology this time.
The IVCI has launched an iPhone application in time for the Sept. 10-26 event. The app will feature news, past laureate recordings,
videos and access to the 2010 schedule, IVCI officials said.
Executive Director Glen Kwok said the app gives people worldwide a “virtual front-row seat” at the competition
and maximum exposure for participants.
Isaac Thompson, manager of special projects, said he believes the IVCI is the first music competition in the world to have
an iPhone app. Thompson will also be blogging live from the event.
As in 2006, each round will be available live through video streaming from the IVCI website.
