demand for food and shelter as people lose their jobs, or their homes to foreclosure.
The trust’s Emergency Fund Initiative includes $700,000 to be divided evenly among 14 Indianapolis community centers.
As IBJ reported previously, the trust decided last fall that it would not grant money
for capital campaigns. Instead, it directed
the money toward front-line human service organizations. The trust said this month that grants to its "Helping People
in Need"
category are the highest since 1998.
In December, the Pulliam trust was one of several organizations, including United Way of Central Indiana, contributing to
a $3.2 million emergency fund.
