Now called the National Christian Foundation Indiana, the Indianapolis organization will be part of a $1.3 billion foundation that has made $2.5 billion in grants since 1982. The foundation says it is the country’s largest sponsor of donor-advised funds for Christian givers. The Indianapolis office, led by President Jim Cotterill, is one of 24 national affiliates.
“At a time when Indianapolis and other urban areas in our state need it most, we’ll be able to offer givers more resources so that we can do more good for more people than we ever imagined,” Cotterill said.
The Indianapolis foundation specializes in working with small-business owners by accepting interests in their businesses as charitable donations. Since opening its doors in August 2007, the foundation has taken in contributions of more than $36 million and made grants worth more than $15 million.
