Carmel-based IT consultant Allegient LLC plans to grow its central Indiana operations, adding as many as 42 jobs over the next five years.

State economic development officials said Friday the company will invest $1.7 million to expand its existing North Meridian Street location, adding computer hardware and other information technology equipment.

Allegient now has 115 employees, including 59 full-time Indiana workers. The new positions will include directors, business development managers, solution architects, project managers, business analysts and technical developers—all described as highly skilled positions

Founded in 2001, Allegient provides business and technology consulting to clients in a variety of industries, including health care, financial services and manufacturing.

Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered the company up to $850,000 in performance-based tax credits based on its job-creation plans. The city of Carmel also approved a property tax abatement.
