A large, vacant industrial building went up in flames on the near-east side Wednesday evening, creating a thick black smoke plume that could be seen for miles. The warehouse at 3724 E. 9th St., near North Sherman Drive, has been empty since it was vacated by Continental Metal Products Inc. about 10 years ago. The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately determined. No injuries were reported.
