Unspecified issues with the kitchen staff have delayed the change in ownership of The Glass Chimney and Deeter’s, said James Roudebush, one of the three buyers in talks with restaurant owner Dieter Puska.

“I’d say the deal is a little wobbly,” Roudebush said, but declined to explain the issues with the workers in the kitchen.

The two sides announced April 21 that James Roudebush, Judith Roudebush and Corbin Roudebush were buying the Hamilton County dining fixtures.

In 1976, Puska bought the Glass Chimney, which had operated as a tea room under the same name. Deeter’s is a more casual restaurant next door to the Glass Chimney.

In January, Puska said he was retiring and would close the restaurant although left open the possibility that it could be bought.

The roughly 24 employees are expected to stay with the new owners, should the deal go through.
