Indianapolis-based HP Products Corp., a distributor of janitorial supplies, announced Tuesday morning that it has completed its acquisition of Great Lakes Supply and Chemical in Michigan City.

Terms of the purchase were not disclosed. It’s the 13th acquisition in the past 20 years for HP Products, a family-owned business located on the city’s northwest side.

“We are thrilled to expand our company once again, especially in today’s challenging economy,” President and CEO Bridget Shuel-Walker said in a prepared statement. “We plan to expand into additional markets in 2010 and beyond through additional mergers such as the one we are announcing today.”

Besides Indianapolis, HP Products has offices in Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Columbus, Ohio, and Paducah, Ky. Manufacturers account for more than 40 percent of its sales, the company said.

Great Lakes Supply is a regional distributor of janitorial equipment, cleaning supplies and industrial-packaging goods. Its serves clients within 100 miles of Michigan City.
