The group agreed to lease 12,000 square feet from Jacksonville-based building owner CSX more than a year ago, but still is working on getting the museum off the ground, said IMPD Lt. Roger Spurgeon, the group’s president.
The interactive museum, dubbed Cop City, received seed money from the Indiana Pacers. The group also is working on plans for a fund-raising event.
The museum would focus on education, and its public-safety-themed exhibits would change on a quarterly basis, Spurgeon said. It may also include a cafe or small restaurant.
Spurgeon would not provide a cost estimate for the project.
