Oxford Shop IndyOxford Shop, a locally owned clothing boutique at 56th and Illinois streets, plans to close in mid-January after 30 years in business. Owner and haberdasher Bill Cuttino plans to retire from running the store, which occupies a former grocery, though he plans to continue to offer tailored clothing and special orders online. The shop, wedged between G. Thrapp Jewelers and Kincaid's Meat Market on the east side of Illinois Street, is offering a "retirement sale" to sell remaining inventory including fixtures and antiques.

Elsewhere among local retailers:

  • Lilly's Soap Kitchen and Handcrafted Wares is moving into the Virginia Avenue State Bank building at 630 Virginia Ave. in Fletcher Place. The 1,100-square-foot shop, set to open the first week of January in a space formerly occupied by a bike shop, will offer Lilly's soaps and goods from Indiana artisans "who either handmake, reuse, or repurpose in an effort to support green living," said owner Sara Clark. Everything in the store will be available for sale, including lighting fixtures and furniture.
  • Old Farm Market along U.S. 36 in Avon has closed. A tipster says a sign on the door says, "Thank you for 39 years." A listed phone number rang busy. The market sits on prime real estate just across Rockville Road from a Walmart Supercenter.
