The blaze broke out about 10 p.m. in the 3000 block of Watergate Road, near 34th Street and Moller Road. Investigators say the fire started as a result of unattended cooking. Nine residents in neighboring apartments escaped without injury. The victim suffered severe smoke inhalation.
