Beauty and the teach: Robby Benson joins IU faculty

Indiana University announced today that Robby Benson will be part of its Department of Telecommunications faculty beginning this fall.

For those who grew up in the 1970s, Benson was known as the leading man in such films as "Ice Castles," "Ode to Billy Joe" and "The Chosen." He also provided the voice for the Beast in the animated classic "Beauty and the Beast." His most recent high-profile acting gig was playing a teacher on the 2003 TV series "American Dreams."

Benson will teach courses in acting, writing, directing and production. His extensive TV credits including directing episodes of "Friends," "Ellen" and "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch."
