Emptying the notebook…

—While individual administrators and organizations have come out against the proposed constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman, the Indianapolis Consortium of Arts Administrators has opted not to take a collective stand. Which begs the question: Is there any arts group that is in favor of the ban? And, if so, would it be willing to say it out loud?

—New SNL cast member Sasheer Zamata isn't the only Pike High School grad performing "live from New York."  Allen K. Washington is appearing through Feb. 16 in Classic Stage Company's production of Bertolt Brecht's "A Man's a Man" (which features songs by Duncan Shiek). Meanwhile, North Central High School graduate Josh Prince is represented on Broadway as choreographer of the new Carole King musical "Beautiful."

—As reported here earlier, the Ball-State-launched musical "The Circus in Winter" has now officially been announced for Connecticut's Goodspeed Opera House’s new musical series. Hunter Foster has been added as a book writer. The cast and director have yet to be announced. road trip, anyone?

—This year's Indiana State Fair theme will be "The Year of the Coliseum," celebrating the landmark building, which is undergoing a $63 million renovation. While headline concerts have yet to be announced, the venue has helped pull the National Belgian Draft Horse Show from Iowa, where it has been held for 54 years.

—Men's Journal has named Holiday World's "The Voyage" as one of the best roller coasters in the country. It's one of only two wooden coasters on the list.

—Look for some arts names when IBJ announces its 40 Under 40 list in early February.
